We have been involved in the fire and life safety industry over 20 years across many different sectors, clients and buildings.   Initially starting out in 'Active' systems (fire alarm systems, PA VA, Disabled Refuge Systems, Emergency Lights, portable etc) with the changes in the industry in 2005/2006 and the introduction of the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order and Fire Risk Assessments this started to change the industry.

Under the active systems side we have design experience and knowledge of Fire Alarm Systems (taking the original BFPSA Design Course plus FIA and BAFE courses) plus over 20 years competency in managing small, medium and large complex client sites across many disciplines (not just fire alarms) offering ongoing maintenance management, life cycle, design, and general consultancy on standards, legislation and compliance.   Often undertaking in-depth surveys to assist with compliance management and report writing.

In the past 5 years 'Active' AND 'Passive' systems (Fire Doors, Compartmentation, Fire Stopping, Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Strategy) have started to come one.   Once upon a time they were see as 'poles apart'.

After the tragedy of Grenfell, Dame Judith Hackitt said in her interim report: “There needs to be a golden thread for all complex and high-risk building projects so that the original design intent is preserved and recorded, and…any changes go through a formal review process involving people who are competent and who understand the key features of the design."    This in our view applies to ALL buildings where people 'have a duty of care' of others when using or resident in their premises.

We continue to study and work in 'Passive' systems (attaining Bluesky UKAS certification in 2022) and still see many buildings with massive failures and non compliances, plus continue to see gaps in competencies.   We have also recently joined FireAware to further demonstrate our commitment to the industry and our clients that Imperium take fire and life safety extremely seriously, passionately and above all work with honesty and integrity.
